By now you will have received the email from me letting you know about the event coming up on the "Community Economic Revival in Windsor During the Recession” Presenters include: myself (steve green), Dr. Sandy Lockhart of the Canadian Centre for Community Renewal and Adam Vasey of the Poverty Reduction Strategy, Pathway to Potential: May 14th, 2009. The event starts at 7pm at the All Saint’s Anglican Church at 330 City Hall Square West .

Also, many thanks to our AWESOME turnout on May 3rd, at the farm! We got our potatoes planted, more onions, some sweet potatoes as a trial, beans on Saturday, filled up a lot of our tire planters for the tomatoes and peppers, prepared a whole other row beside the beans, spread more manure, and had an awesome time! Everyone is getting pretty excited! Many thanks to Charlie for picking up some more aged manure, I heard you really 'got into' joe.. he he.. and that the horses were trying to help you! We saw the Jerusalem Artichokes poking through, healthy garlic getting ready to send up their scapes soon, peas up, radishes and mustard greens up, kale starting, onions coming along nicely, and the rhubarb taking! Margaret brough out some strawberries and planted them near the rhubarb! I've got more coming out this week from a work friend! Keep your eyes posted for people wanting to get rid of raspberries, strawberries, rhubarb, chives and onion chives, garlic chives, etc! We'll replant them out for us! We spoiled ourselves this weekend and I got soem flat leaf italian parsley already 3-4 inches! Noella will plant some from seed when she comes out. We're going to link our barrels together and collect the rain from EJ's metal shed roof! Also, EJ has let us store the roto tiller over there! Overall, things are coming along great!
BUSINESS MEETING! May 12th, 2009 at 7 PM at ShopEco!
We are having a WECSA business meeting on Tuesday May 12 at Anita's store, ShopEco!
It is located at: 13300 Tecumseh Road East, Windsor, ON N8N 4R8 (Manning/Tecumseh in the Green Valley Plaza). We will get to see Anita's store and also talk farm away from the dirt!
REMINDER! Dogs!
I talked to EJ/Derek yesterday and the reminded me that they are uncomfortable with other dogs coming out (Due to the size of Trigger & Gage roaming the farm). So, unfortunately, I'll have to ask everyone to leave their doggies at home or in the vehicle somehow so they are not roaming around, even on leash. Part of our land agreement.
Made In Windsor On Saturday May 9th, 2009
Our own Christine Arkell-Rideout who started and heads up the Made In Windsor craft and goods show has agreed to let us have a table there to share our information, talk to people, sell our WECSA bags so that we can get more! I need someone to man the table for us! If you would be willing to take a rotation, please let me know and we'll coordinate it! I will not be able to because I have to do a wedding in Wallaceburg this weekend. Please email me as soon as you know you can take a turn!
