I took a drive out to Tredki Acres this morning to meet Dan Kenney.
He was in his house, so some of his friends, Rudy and Sugar, showed me around.

Once I went and got Dan he showed me his littlw farmgate store where he keeps his strawberry baskets and boxes, jams, maple syrup, and some other things. He sells a lot of jam. He sells plenty of strawberries free of pesticides and nasty stuff that many of us don't want in our food. Did you know that imported and commercially grown strawberries are part of the 'dirty dozen' for peticides and chemicals. Don't believe me? Click here!

I was tempted to buy some of his maple syrup from up Goderich way, but I had just bought some recently and still had a good supply. Instead, I went home with some blueberry jam and one bottle of honey. I'm looking forward to trying his new supplier soon.
He and his wife make all the jam once the kids get to bed. Go local baby!
Dan also does school tours for his pumpkin patch and corn maze, I guess you could call it a maize maze! His little farm is also on the Trolley Tour that they do in August. I got to meet a couple of his horses, one's a real untamed Mustang, some of his fence hopping hens, his ducks and geese. They were very jealous that Dan wasn't paying any attention to them so I left.
Stop out and see him sometime!
I'm trying to get a permanent place for his jam here in Windsor-
for those of us who want to be eco-friendly and not drive out a lot.
Thanks Dan for the tour! The blueberry jam was very good!
